Dana Point Dining Guide: Top Restaurants for Spring 2025

Dana Point restaurants are a big part of what makes this coastal town so popular with locals. If you’re searching for homes for sale in Dana Point, or just stopping in for a day, you’ll want to know where locals actually eat! The food scene here is changing too, thanks in part to the Dana Point Harbor Revitalization Project, which is bringing new energy and new businesses to the area. Here’s what’s worth your time this spring—no filler or empty calories, just good food recommended by our Dana Point real estate team. Let’s dig in!

Where to Eat in Dana Point’s Lantern District

The Lantern District is Dana Point’s charming and walkable downtown. It’s where you’ll find a mix of longtime favorites and newer spots that have quickly earned a following.

Coastal Kitchen is a go-to for fresh seafood and American comfort food. The menu is straightforward—think crab cakes, halibut, and a solid burger. The space is bright and relaxed, and it’s just as popular with locals as it is with visitors.

Maison Cafe & Market is the answer for anyone craving a proper breakfast or a casual lunch. The French-inspired menu covers everything from croissants and cappuccinos to a well-executed salmon Niçoise. Maison’s team also runs Giana, which is worth a look for dinner.

Craft House does elevated comfort food—fried chicken, meatloaf, and BBQ shrimp. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a long meal. People come back for the food, but also for the easygoing atmosphere.

If you want pizza, Truly Pizza is the spot. It’s busy for a reason: the dough is chewy, the toppings are fresh, and the staff knows their stuff.

Dana Point Harbor: Local Favorites and What’s Coming Next

The harbor is changing fast. The Dana Point Harbor Revitalization Project is underway, with new restaurants and public spaces on the way. But some local staples are still the best bet.

Turk’s Dana Wharf is a true local hangout. It’s not fancy, but the food is better than you’d expect—especially the steak and the daily seafood specials. The drinks are strong, the crowd is mixed, and the view of the boats is tough to beat.

Proud Mary’s is a breakfast and lunch favorite, especially for the corned beef hash and the harbor views. The patio is the place to be on a sunny morning.

What a Dish is another harbor option. It’s a little pricier, but the food is consistently good and the outdoor seating is comfortable.

Looking ahead, Hook & Anchor is opening a second location at 34091 La Plaza. Their lobster rolls and ceviche have made them a hit elsewhere in Orange County, and they’re bringing the same seafood-forward menu to Dana Point this spring.

As the harbor area evolves, expect more rooftop bars and a new food court, The Boathouse, to open soon. We expect these updates to further increase demand for local real estate listings, especially for buyers who want to be close to the action.

Monarch Beach: Upscale Dining and Ocean Views

Monarch Beach is where you’ll find Dana Point’s most upscale dining. If you’re looking for a special night out, this is the area to explore.

As part of the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, the Monarch Bay Beach Club offers oceanfront dining with a menu built around seafood and California produce. The setting is private, the service is attentive, and the views are some of the best in town. If you’re considering a move to this area, access to the club is a real perk.

LUA Asian Fusion Eatery brings Vietnamese and pan-Asian dishes in a modern, comfortable space. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the service is friendly.

If steak is your thing, RAYA at The Ritz-Carlton and Bourbon Steak Orange County (at the Waldorf Astoria) both deliver. Expect ocean views, polished service, and menus that make the most of Southern California’s ingredients.
